Tachy Bunker Brendan Byrnes is one of the best microtonal electronic musicians the world has ever had.

planetarywalker the titles and artwork are strongly evocative, and not to mention the music too. it's well crafted and sonically sound. it's greatly enchanting, borderline a safari of lurid flora and riveting alien life.

Brendan! this is simply put, an amazing album! I've had it for a few years now, and to me I feel is representative of the < 1% i've been trying to chase on Bandcamp. a good gateway for xenharmony and outlandish music. long the reign!

Theodore Kloba This is one of the most accessible microtonal recordings I've heard. Although it does have a concept built around the alternate tuning systems, it would still be enjoyable as music that just happens to be microtonal. My favorite is the live-in-studio "Fever Swimmer" which sounds like a bent futurist re-imagining of [believe it or not] "The Other Way of Stopping" by The Police. Runner-up: "Zibra Island". Favorite track: Fever Swimmer (live in studio).

about

An arresting collection of microtonal electronica and avant-rock by Los Angeles-based composer/instrumentalist/producer Brendan Byrnes. Each of the eight tracks explores a different tuning system and is based on imaginary locations or features of Micropangaea, a fictional continent that will form on earth in the distant future. With the help of drummers
Michael Day and Mike Horick, engineer Brian Saia, and a microtonal guitar ensemble, Byrnes pulls the listener through instantly compelling song structures while pushing sonic boundaries. An animated website designed by Kerstin Hovland offers a new alternative to liner notes, providing additional visual content and tuning information. Visit the site at micropangaea.com.

"There’s an immediate wow factor embedded within these eight pieces of sonic delight as featured in the tantalizing world of Brendan Byrnes‘ Micropangaea—a kaleidoscope of surreal instrumentation which roots itself in the subconscious and elevates the senses." -Igloo Magazine
