about

Performed by the ensemble “Taller Atlántico Contemporáneo” TAC, from Galicia (autonomy region settled in the NW of Spain).

The point of departure is a very simple acoustic principle: sounds of a harmonic tube and thinking about the possibilities of the generation of natural scales. Following this principle, it was formed two groups of instruments, one of them a quarter tone bellow tuned and with the "mission of collect natural tones." The whole ensemble division is unconventional, searching a special colour effect inside of this tone organization. Developing this seed, it is possible find some different musical situations: a large "sound picture" opening and closing the composition, a central way to achieve a large global "legato" sounding by quarter tone steps, combination of striking and polyphonic moments linking individual lines in a general colour, conduction chooses about the sound movements between the two groups, and, of course, each instrument "needing to became a harmonic tube" trying to imitate its sound. -JMLR
