Peter Nagle - Fragments of the First Eternal Melody

The full title of this piece is "Two fragmentary realisations of the first eternal melody  combined with random interpolations in the first version of the 13-8-2013-43 chord (with 39)." Eternal melodies are ideas that stick around in my head as continuously developing threads. This one uses pitches derived from 13-limit just intonation. Two recordings of this played on cello are here placed within a drone whose pitches are in just ratios based on the date I recorded it. The collage is completed with a number of fragments of other recordings which I made at the same time. These have no connection with the rest except a coincidence of time. All elements were recorded and assembled in August 2013.

I created this track for The Dark. Outside., a project in which unheard music was broadcast to a mountain in Dumfries and Galloway.
